They pack a powerful zap but tend to be larger and have limited directional application (loss of power when not held at a 90 degree angle). This Solid State Violet Wand can run indefinitely. The electrode connection is set deeper in the device so that there are no accidental discharges when you get too close to the base.

I don't know about this particular product but i own several of the wands from the early 1900s with several full sets of attachments. It's a GREAT S/M toy! It really doesn't hurt all that much (unless the bottom's a total wuss) and it makes a spectacular demo scene. I highly recommend 'toys' like this! And this pricing is phenominally cheap!
