Los Angeles Store Closing

April 16, 2008 - After 8 spectacular years in Los Angeles, Mr. S Leather will be closing its store location in LA. This decision was not made lightly, but reflects today's economic realities.

Our flagship store in San Francisco which we expanded in 2005, will continue to be our company headquarters to carry on the 30 year tradition of Mr. S Leather.   

The last day of store operations in Los Angeles will be Sunday, April 26, 2009. During this time, we will be selling all inventory in this store at 25% OFF. This sale is just for the LA store and is limited to just the inventory at hand. No orders for items to be made or ordered will be taken during that time at the 25% off discount. This is a great time to stop by and pick out the piece of gear you have been thinking about getting. The Mr. S store in LA is located next to the FaultLine bar at 4232 Melrose Ave. (323-663-7765). There is parking in the back of the store, and the hours of operation are Wed thru Saturday 2PM to 10PM and Sunday 2PM to 8PM.
        

I know that many of you have made friends with the staff of our LA store over the last 8 years. I’m taking a moment to thank the staff that has been a part of the LA operation over these 8 years, and also recognize the store managers during this time. My gratitude to those who put forth their best personal efforts and good intentions to make the store a success. I'm sure the many LA customers will miss the store being there, as well as your connections to the community through the store.

We would like to thank all our customers everywhere, who have visited and enjoyed shopping at our LA store. We encourage and invite each of you to visit our San Francisco store at 385 8th Street in the SoMa district of San Francisco, where we continue our commitment to offering the best BDSM, fetish, leather gear possible, with our focus on quality and style. Our Internet sales are open 24/7/365 at our site www.Mr-S-Leather.com.  We continue to create new designs and expand into many affiliate relationships with other large and small web companies. Mr. S has re launched its Wholesale division again offering its premium line of gear to other select stores around the world. We have now partnered with some of the best new businesses to be their exclusive distributors for their high quality lines of gear. Our flagship new building in San Francisco is 28,000 sq. ft. and we are now opening a large area on the 2nd floor for parties, demos, lectures, presentations, galleries, photo shoots and video production rentals. A whole new series of 'Events' are planned for the San Francisco bay area in the coming months and Mr. S will be closely involved in their promotion.

As owner of Mr. S Leather for the last 18 years, I've always been excited to find new ways to expand our operations. Our business model at Mr. S and at Madame-S has always been talking directly with customers and being able to educate, as well as demonstrate our gear. I value letting customers try on the clothing and bondage pieces before you buy... it's also part of the fun of this kind of sexy business to meet and connect to our customers. Mr. S will always maintain our main flagship store in San Francisco as well as our large Internet business. Many years ago Mr. S chose to appeal to real players in this scene, offering the highest quality hand made gear that we could manufacture. We choose higher quality in our products because that is what we wanted in our own lives, with what we played with and what we wore. Offering lesser quality, cheaper gear made in Pakistan, China and India was the last thing I wanted to shape our business model into. That mentality has polluted the scene and lowered the standard of our lifestyle. Mr. S Leather designs and manufactures all it's Leather and Latex gear here in the USA in our San Francisco workshops and is dedicated to continuing to offer only the best gear possible.

Our San Francisco operation employs about 50 people and this is where we design and make all the leather and latex gear we offer. So it's very important for us to operate in a very business like way in order to insure the continued future of the company. With over 100,000 customers who have come to expect the high quality gear and good customer service that we offer, it is necessary to make these changes when needed. The closing of the LA operation also includes closing the Mr. S Tattoo parlor that we just opened about a year and a half ago.

I mentioned I've been blessed with a great staff, especially as I've gotten older and wanted and needed to delegate a lot of the day to day operations to my managers.  Jonathan Schroder is our General Manager now and keeps the operation well oiled and running smoothly. He has a lot on his plate and has stepped up to that plate with wonderful enthusiasm and attention to detail.  His right hand man is our Assistant Manager, Atom Edwards and Atom handles and deals with an incredible number of details to make Jonathan's life easier. Josh Runyon is our Assistant Store Manager in SF and he too keeps the day to day functioning of the store running smoothly. What can I say about the person you probably all know well. Skeeter, who is our Production Manager and has been with me for some 17 years, has probably made most of you all reading this, some special piece of leather clothing or bondage gear over all these years. She's truly the diamond in the Mr. S crown and continues to design and supervise our entire Production Department. She's also now Mama Skeeter, having just adopted a brand new 9 week old baby boy. So much love goes out to Skeeter and when you see her give her your warm wishes... and she also loves chocolate too.
